Gila River Arena hosting Drive-through Food Distribution Today, 5/6/2020

The Arizona Coyotes are teaming up with St. Mary’s Food Bank for a food distribution at Gila River Arena in Glendale on Wednesday.

The food distribution will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. or until the food runs out, a press release from St. Mary’s Food Bank said.

Members of the Coyotes, led by President Ahron Cohen and General Manager John Chayka, will help distribute food to families struggling due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the release said.

The distribution, which will be a no-contact drive-thru in the arena’s east parking lot, is aimed at families that rarely needed help from food banks in the past, the release stated…

Those distributions are open to all individuals and families in need of food assistance, according to the United Food Bank website.

The food drive is also a drive-thru service where volunteers place donations in trunks. Walk-up service is also available for those without vehicles, the website said.

Each household may receive food once per week. The drive has a variety of frozen meats, fresh produce and non-perishable items, the website stated.
