Welcome to Fan Zone Friday here on Westgate Corner.com! Today, we interview our friend and fellow fan, the Host of AZ Sicko Sports Podcast, Danny “Najangy” Najarian!
GirlontheCorner: How long have you been in Arizona and how long a fan of AZ sports?
Danny: I have been a proud citizen of Arizona my entire life, and even prouder fan of all AZ Sports since I came into this world in 93′. The AZ Cardinals, D-Backs, Suns and Coyotes have been integral part of my life here in AZ and love one team just as much as the other.
GirlontheCorner: Do you attend both Arizona Cardinals & Arizona Coyotes games out this way?
Danny: I do, every chance I get I go to as many games as possible.
GirlontheCorner: Do you like tailgating before games, and if so, what do you do?
Danny: Hell. Yes. Every game I go tailgate with my good buddies I grew up with. My good friend J Winston’s family has had a tent since the beginning and we always pregame on the main lawn with beers, jalapeno poppers and burgers. Truly, a prime way to prep yourself for some AZ Cardinals football.
GirlontheCorner: What are your favorite Westgate Entertainment District restaurants or bars?
Danny: My favorites are Yard House and McFadden’s but most of the time when I’m in that area I’m at a game because I live in Old Town Scottsdale.
GirlontheCorner: Are you guys open to doing a live podcast during season at one of the Westgate restaurants or on Westgate Corner before football games (assuming there are some!)?
Danny: Absolutely! We are planning our first live podcast for Game 1 vs. the 49ers Sunday, September 13 at Ernie’s on Shea and Scottsdale. I am also planning on having a live podcast on the lawn during a tailgate. I would love to do one right outside of Gila River Arena as well when the Yotes let fans back in.
GirlontheCorner: Are you guys doing anything for the Arizona Cardinals football training camp going on currently at State Farm Stadium or does that remain to be seen?
Danny: Remains to be seen, but I would love to get in there to hopefully interview players and check out the rookie’s performance. Again, not really sure if they are going to let fans in quite yet.
GirlontheCorner: What is “Run for Will” you guys have talked about?
Danny: The Run for Will Initiative and half-marathon run unfortunately had to be moved to a different date due to Covid-19 concerns. Originally, we were going to run at the State 48 Half-Marathon to raise the goal amount of $10,000 for Sonoran Prevention Works. But we have decided to move our run to a later event in early 2021. For more details visit the Run for Will Facebook event page.
GirlontheCorner: What do you think about the Westgate Entertainment District, Gila River Arena and State Farm Stadium area?
Danny: The whole area is perfect for sports and just straight having a great time. Plenty of restaurants to choose from to celebrate a Coyotes or Cardinals win and enough entertainment to last you a full week.
GirlontheCorner: How can fellow fans find you and AZ Sicko Sports Podcast crew on social media and listen to the weekly podcasts?
Danny: Instagram: @azsickosports, AZ Sicko Sports Podcast can be found on Apple Podcast, Spotify and CastBox.
